Vishnu Devi in Jammu ,kamakya Devi in Assam Manama devi in haridwar, vindhya vasini on vindhya mountains,or chamudi Devi in mysore are all situated on hills why?
The world was created from panchatatvas. All theses five elements namely water air,fire, earth and sky have their own presiding deities.
The presiding deity for water is Ganesh
For vayu is vishnu,and earth is Shankar Agni is agnidevatha and for Akashit is surya.
Goddess durga is regarded as creator and sustainer of this universe . Even tridevs derive power from shakti devata
. Having been given such place in the universe she stays on a an elevated space usually mountains or hill top which is regarded as throne of the earth . This is the reason why Devi temples are situated on hill tops.
